PPS: Can you tell us about yourself, what you do, and what you're passionate about?

LILI: Sure, I'm Lili. I'm half Swiss and half Malaysian Chinese. I grew up in Switzerland and moved to LA when I was 12. I studied merchandise product development in LA and now I'm at Istituto Marangoni in Milan for styling and creative direction.

PPS: Is that why you moved to Milan?

LILI: Yes, to continue developing my personal style in styling and creative direction, I also enjoy exploring different mediums of art like photography, makeup, and nail art in my projects.

PPS: What inspires you?

LILI: Community and knowing we are in this together. I aim to convey real feelings we share as a collective and try to create something meaningful rather than hiding from reality.

PPS: How has your relationship with fashion changed over time, especially with moving around?

LILI: I tend to be mutable and fit into whichever context I am in, but I’ve learned to stay true to myself regardless of my environment. I enjoy experimenting with different styles and personas, that is how fashion allows me to discover parts of myself.

PPS: What's your signature style?

LILI: Big pants and flowy fabrics, in earthy colors like brown and green.

PPS: Do you have any regrets with fashion choices?

LILI: Overconsumption. I sometimes buy impulsively, but I'm trying to focus on what truly fits my style timelessly.

PPS: How do you decide what to buy?

LILI: If it's something I've been seeking out for a while and if it's affordable, it feels like a good purchase.

PPS: Who are some of your favorite designers?

LILI: VeniceW and Urte Kat are super cool brands, and I always shop vintage Marithé Francois Girbaud and Cop Copine.

PPS: How do fashion and culture influence each other?

LILI: Fashion signals cultural affiliation, but now styles don’t always reflect true cultural ties. Regardless, it is still a means to signal and connect with others.

PPS: If you could change one thing in fashion or culture, what would it be?

LILI: Putting more emphasis on the cultural background in fashion styles beyond aesthetics. Being educated is the best way to appreciate a style’s beauty.

PPS: What are you manifesting at the moment?

LILI: To enjoy the present moment and be grateful.
